FAQ Series 52
Which switch should I choose for my Dante AoIP network?

In general, you should choose a Gigabit Managed Switch. This should allow to switch off the EEE functionality (Energy Efficient Ethernet or Green Ethernet).

Managed and unmanaged switches without the option to switch off the EEE functionality are not suitable.

The following switches are tested by DHD and other manufacturers and are recommended for the Dante networks:

  • Cisco Small Business SG300-10
  • Cisco Small Business SG300-20

Cisco - Small Business 300 Series Managed Switches

Detailed information about choosing the right switches and their configuration can be found on the Audinate website:

Audinate - Networks and Switches

Audinate - List of incompatible, unmanaged switches with Energy Efficient Ethernet

Which DHD devices can be used with Firmware 8?
The Firmware version 8.0.x will be supported by all 52/XC, 52/XC2, 52/XD, 52/XD2, 52/XS and 52/XS2 cores.

With Firmware version 8.x or higher TFT Touch Displays with type RM420-015 and 52-4015A are not supported any more. They will not operate when they are connected to a Core with Firmware version 8.x or higher.

The TFT Displays 52-4015B, 52-4015C, 52-4017A, 52-4017B, 52-4018A are not affected. Their Firmware will be automatically updated when connecting to a Core with Firmware 8.x.
