The 52/RX Mixing Console, with its 4 to 48 faders, resembles the layout of its predecessing models RM4200D and RM3200D. At the same time, it features prominent advantages of the Series 52, e.g. linking via Ethernet, operation of up to 4 independent mixers with one DSP Frame, and the freely configurable TFT Views. Due to module sizes similar to the mentioned systems, existing RM4200D systems can easily be extended to be a Series 52 mixer by replacing the control modules and upgrading to the Toolbox5 software and the RM420-852/853 Communication Controller, while keeping DSP Frame, I/O modules, table installation frames and studio furniture unchanged.
There are no limitations regarding cable lengths between the control panels and the DSP Frame, as the cabling via Ethernet allows bridging of up to 100 m with CAT6-cables. Even larger distances can be realized with a conversion to fibre-optic cables.
Currently, no further modules are planned to scale up the 52/RX series. Thanks to the extensibility of the 52/RX with other Series 52 control and fader modules, including TFT displays, the combination with 52/MX devices offers many possibilities. For instance, studio control panels or complex monitoring panels of the 52/MX series can be added to an 52/RX. It is however important to note that 52/RX and 52/MX have completely different designs and module dimensions (52/MX: 42.5 mm | 52/RX: 40.0 mm - equals e.g. one fader-strip width), which makes it impossible to install 52/RX modules and 52/MX modules in collective frames.
